Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium), manufactured and released by Astra Zeneca is the short-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in patients with irritation and swelling of the esophagus belonging to group of mediactions called proton pump inhibitors.

Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium) works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
What is the Benefit of Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium) 40mg?
Proton pump inhibitors such as Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium) is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD); used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (excessive stomach acid); is also used to treat esophagitis; treatment of dyspepsia; treatment of peptic ulcer disease (PUD); may help reduce symptoms of heartburn; is used to help treat gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) with use of antibiotic; used to prevent gastric ulcer caused by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Diclofenac and Celecoxib.

Administration
Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium) can be taken with water, at least one hour before or after food or without food.
Take Esomeprazole (Generic Nexium) at around the same time every day and take exactly as directed.

For Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Esomeprazole 40mg in two divided doses, to take one dose per day for 4 to 8 weeks as directed
For Erosive Esophagitis
Esomeprazole 40mg once per day for 4 to 8 weeks as directed
For Helicobacter pylori Infection
Esomeprazole 40 mg orally once a day for 10 days along with amoxicillin 500mg x 2 as a single dose for 10 days as directed
For NSAID-Induced Gastric Ulcer
Esomeprazole 40mg once per day for 6 months as directed
For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Esomeprazole 40 mg orally twice daily. Doses up to Esomeprazole 40 mg x 6 daily (total of Esomeprazole 240 mg) have been used as directed
For Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions
Esomeprazole 40 mg orally twice daily. Doses up to Esomeprazole 40 mg x 6 daily (total of Esomeprazole 240 mg) have been used as directed
